AL-MUDASSAR SCHOOL FOR BLIND
TRAIN FOR LIFE IMPROVEMENT
Globally, it is estimated that approximately 1.3 billion people live with some form of vision impairment and 36 million people are blind. In Pakistan, according to the latest census, about 300,000 people are blind, where Punjab province has the highest numbers. Blindness creates a chain effect, starting with illiteracy and ending with social exclusion of blind children. These young souls are the most vulnerable group in the world, and shockingly, very few have access to education. Their social inclusion is only dependent on their special education, whereas very few institutes in Pakistan are capable of catering to their needs in full potential. Many of them are private or partially charge fees, which is a significant hindrance for them to achieve their unseen dreams.
